Malaysia ranked 6th in South East Asia in attracting foreign direct investments (FDIs) in 2005. [The Edge] Considering the fact that there’s only 10 countries in the region, the FDI ranking is not pleasing.

I felt that it’s not our competitiveness dropping, but that our neighbours are getting better while Malaysia are stepping on the same stone for the past few years.

Visit Malaysia Year 20073 more months to go, and it’s Visit Malaysia Year 2007.. I wonder how prepared are Malaysians to show our hospitality? How prepared are we to welcome these new friends?

Malaysia tourism board are doing a decent job promoting the event overseas, I bet we will have decent increment of foreign visitors next year.

However, visit Malaysia 2007 is not just about getting more visitors in 2007, we need to show good things about Malaysia that can attract these visitors to visit Malaysia again, and again.

The Islamic world seems furious about what Pope Benefict XVI said that relates Prophet Mohammed for bringing evil and inhuman to the world. [CNN]

Malaysia Prime Minister Mr. Badawi has joined in the attack demanding an apology from the Pope and Vatican. World wide Muslims are going on streets to protest the remarks from the Pope.

My point is however.. did all the protesters know what the Pope actually said? Is his comments misintepreted? Did he intend to humiliate the Muslims? What’s the point of his statements?

I bet most of the protesters have no idea what exactly is happening other than plainly following what the Islamic leaders and press suggested, that is the Pope insulted Islam.

Malaysia higher educational institutions are quite concern lately about the shortage of PhD qualified lecturers in universities, public universities in particular.

Most local universities are busy finding solutions to boost their rankings, they often look for shortcuts like hiring more PhD holders, getting more international students.. but often neglected the core of education.

It will take a few post to discuss the whole matter, I’ll now show a few examples why PhD lecturers are not necessary good lecturers, and might not be the direct solution for better higher education.

Perhaps everyone will have friends that we love to hate.. the kind of friends that you will like to punch on their face and call them idiots if they are not your friends.

I have more than a few of these friends, I bet you have too.. friends that will disgust you if they are strangers. Somehow faith plays its part, those idiots become your friends, and you can’t call them idiots anymore, you call them buddies.

I just wish that I don’t need to marry a wife that I love to hate in future.. but who knows, life is unpredictable after all, so is love.

My sister in law gave birth to a healthy baby boy just a day before Malaysia celebrate our 49th Merdeka independence day.

The welcoming of a new life in our big family has left me pondering lots of things.. to be a better man, to be a great uncle that my nephews and niece can take as a role model.

The undergraduates that were involved in the harassment at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) canteen last month (July 17) will be let off with advice. [Sun2surf]

In a press conference on Friday (Aug 18), UPM vice-chancellor Prof Dr Nik Mustafa R. Abdullah said that..

“We will call the students and advice them that we have to respect each other. This is the university’s responsibility to educate them rather than punishing them.

We are an educational society. We have to instil moral value.. Everyone stands a chance. We have to educate them.”
