I love these rice dumplings… but I have a weak stomach; and glutinous rice is one of the evil stuff that could trigger some gastric and stomach problem for me. Problem is, I can’t resist the dumplings, at least not during these one or two months around the Dragon Boat festival.

Guess I will have some stomach ache and gastric for a couple of weeks.

Looks weird, taste weird..

I can understand having mooncake during Mid Autumn Festival, but wonder what water chestnuts have to do with the fest..

Whatever, Happy Mid Autumn Festival.

Went to the SS2 Wong Kok Char Chan Teng on Monday with a friend from Ipoh, he loves HK style restaurants, I don’t. Ok, I don’t really hate it.

The SS2 main branch has just finished re-renovation lately, the new design look more cozy than the old layout.

I order a cheese steam chicken chop rice (can’t really remember the name from the menu), taste weird but good, perhaps cheesier than Pizza Hut’s pizza..

Some side dishes, or so call snacks like dumplings and mashed potatoes..

Food tasted fair enough, bill is RM47 for 2 person, overpriced if you ask me.

I have to comment on their poor service though, most of their waiters sux, standing there day-dreaming instead of serving the customers.

The bloody-candy-myth was broken later on but I was no longer interested with sweetie stuffs.

Till today I have not much interest with sweets and candies. I prefer black coffee and bitter chocolate, and I don’t even have a pack of sugar at home.

One exception that I am craving for is cotton candy, not that I really like the taste but it has been years since I last saw a freshly made cotton candy, and I miss it.

According to wikipedia, candy is derived from Dutch term kandij, which is a kind of candy anyway.

While the term candy is widely used in North America, UK and Commonwealth countries normally refer to a piece of confectionery as a sweet (as of Malaysians?).. Australians refer it as lollies though.

Snickers Bar are invented in 1930, the name Snickers was from a favorite horse of the manufacturer.

There’s a 2006 movie “Candy” starring brokeback mountain hunk Heath Ledger.

There’s another movie named “Candy” in 1968, which actually starred Marlon Brando.

“Candy Candy” is a Japanese anime TV series in 1970s.

So every morning I’m having muesli, corn-flakes and milk.

Am I getting any healthier? Dunno yet. One thing for sure, I’ve gained 6 pounds after changing my breakfast menu.. I’m blaming on the ‘healthy’ cereals.

Call me a cave-man if you wish but I never thought or knew that the Nandos peri-peri sauce are available on shelf in the general market.

I knew at least a few people that love Nando’s chicken and particularly craving for the peri-peri sauce. So out of excitement I bought myself a bottle of traditional hot peri-peri.. and then back home only I realized that I have nothing to go with the sauce.

Wonder how it will blend with instant noodles.. hmmm.

We make our own Bak Chang at home for the the Dragon Boat Festival since I was a child, making Bak Chang is one of the very few cooking skill that I can be proud of lol.

Since my mum moved to stay with my bro in Kuala Lumpur, sometimes she cannot celebrate or worship the Chinese gods and ancestors at hometown (Ipoh) and thus had to make it earlier for those ceremonies.

As said, this year mum had to make the Bak Chang for the Dragon Boat Festival a bit earlier. Normally I would be at home to help out but I was just too lazy tired for the weekend, so I stayed in KL instead.

My sis from Penang was back in Ipoh, and my cousins next door were probably helping as well.. so we had enough hands perhaps.

Honestly the Bak Chang we made were never really good, lots of Bak Chang that were sold elsewhere taste better.. but there’s always a kind of feeling when you eat something you make, and yes I love our Bak Chang, no other Bak Chang can subsitute the satisfaction in the end.

So I have some Bak Chang with me now, which my mum brought back from Ipoh. I’m going to be a happy boy when I wake up tomorrow, with Bak Chang ready on the table for breakfast, lunch and dinner lol.

My other friends seem uninterested with the chicken concept at all, or probably they thought that the restaurant is too cheapscake or whatsoever.

We went to the restaurant after lunch hour and we were the only customers there for some 20 minutes before other customers walked in.. that’s kinda freaky actually, I felt like eating at a different dimension.

Well chicken buffet.. off course to main dish is chicken, with a decent salad bar and some other hot dishes. The food tasted fair enough, definitely not the best at every aspect, but value for money perhaps.

I actually like their mashed potatoes.. ermm wait.. I actually LOVE mashed potatoes from whatever places.

It cost us RM14.40 each for a buffet lunch, a happy stomach and an enjoyable afternoon, some more got view of Sunway Lagoon from the buffet restaurant.

The only thing missing is some hot chicks and a bunny girl
