I learnt about Tomoko when she was singing for pop band The Brilliant Green, where they sang the opening song for Jdorama “Over Time” that starred Takeshi Sorimachi and Esumi Makiko..

Not really a huge fan of The Brilliant Green though, their songs were nice but lacked a bit of uniqueness. I favored Do As Infinity, Kiroro and some other solo J-pop artist back then.

The Brilliant Green became hiatus since 2002, but before that Tomoko was already releasing her solo singles and album by using the pseudonym, Tommy February6. Tommy is Tomoko’s nickname and February 6 her birthday.

I am not sure how to define the music genre of Tommy February6, it’s anime like kinda pop music.. and indeed her songs are used in a few popular Japanese anime, including “Lonely in Gorgeous” for anime series “Paradise Kiss..”

Tomoko later also released her music using another pseudonym, Tommy Heavenly6. Heavenly6 is a bit more rocker type compared to February6, but the music style is still pretty similar in between.

In fact it’s not easy to identify which song belongs to February6 and which belongs to Heavenly6 by listening.. the different are more noticable from her music videos though, February6 wear spectacles whereas Heavenly6 don’t.

Ok this is another favorite from Tomoko, “Hey My Friend” from Tommy Heavenly6 in 2004..

Actually it’s because of Hey My Friend that I started tracking back to some of Tomoko’s earlier tracks. Somehow I just like the song even though I can’t understand what’s she singing other than the 3 English words.

A woman loves the man, the man love the woman who can’t love him.

In the end the man marry another woman, who has no love for him, and he doesn’t love her.

Such irony are more likely to happen in Korean drama, life should be simplier than that, and hopefully so.

Quite a good movie, it made me wanted to become a pilot back then. Not sure how I ended becoming an engineer instead.. life is ironic afterall, you can’t always get what you want.

I first learnt about Kiroro from Taiwanese singer Rene Liu, who sang a few Chinese hit songs adapted from Kiroro’s original Japanese version.

Mirae is probably the most popular song from Kiroro, for non Japanese fans in particular..

The song brings back lots of wonderful memories from my uni days, I had a college mate that used to play their CD everyday and night.

I can’t really understand what they are singing, I tend to feel touch most of the time.. perhaps there’s no word boundaries in music.

My personal favorite from Kiroro is Aitai..

Another couple of Kiroro’s songs that I like on YouTube.. Nagai Aida and Hitotsubu No Namida.

Haven’t heard much from Kiroro lately, my friend told me that the duo has been disbanded.. not sure, hope that it’s just rumors.

The band is “OK Go,” and their MV “Here It Goes Again” with their choreographed dance on treadmills is one of YouTube’s all time most viewed video.

Their online popularity has allowed them to appear on various TV shows, with album featuring on VH1′s Top 20 Chart, and was invited to perform at MTV’s VMA.

Apparently our Malaysian authorities think that the Pussycat Dolls were guilty of performing ‘sexually-suggestive routines’ on stage at the Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach concert on July 26.

Tell me that this is a joke. Why do MPSJ approved the concert if they are so sensitive with the PCD style of performances? They expect the PCD to wear a saint robe and sing church songs in the concert is it?

The fans and audience went to the concert expecting those hot ‘sexually-suggestive’ performances from Pussycat Dolls, not that they are not aware of what of it.

This reminded me of another stupid case a few years back with Linkin Park concert in Malaysia, where they were told not to ‘scream’ on the stage, ya right.. let’s sing some love ballad like Siti Nurhaliza.

Malaysia will be moving into Golden Jubilee of achieving independence, thus organizing the Visit Malaysia Year to lure worldwide travellers in conjunction with series of celebrations in 2007.

This promo video actually compiled a series of Chinese promos which should be aired seperately in TV channels overseas. The background music is adapted from Guang Liang’s latest hit song “Commitment.”

Quite a lovely video, reminded me of Malaysia being a beautiful country despite all the recently unpleasant socio-political issues.

It got to be one of the cooliest self-made video I’ve seen from YouTube, the underwater world is just so heaven-like.. enough to motivate me to learn some serious swimming and get a scuba diving license.

I guess there’s a reason for Sipadan to be rated as one of world best scuba diving spot..
