Streamyx sucks.

I hadn’t been able to get online since last Saturday (June 13); I contacted Streamyx support on following Monday and was told that everything was working fine, that they could track that I was online.

Problem was, I was not able to access anything online at all… the call center support couldn’t figure out the problem and filed a report for me. The next day a technician called me and asked me to restart the modem again and everything should be ok. Being naive I just followed the instruction but I still could not connect the internet at all…

The technician didn’t contact me again and I had to call the support center on Wednesday to check my report. To my astonishment the technician (or the support team) closed my report straight away without verifying that everything was ok.

Fine, it could be a miscommunication… they opened another report for me… and guess what really pissed me off? Nobody from Streamyx called me to help settle the problem up until today.

I contacted my friend (thanks Bryan) this morning and he took about an hour to figure out that my modem was not working… we changed the modem and everything is working fine now. Funny thing is that I was assured numerous times by the Streamyx support that my connection was working perfectly (when my modem was not working…), woohoo!!!

It’s nothing new mumbling about how Streamyx sucks… it has become a norm in Malaysia really. The annoying thing is that we don’t have much choices… we still have to pay them monthly to use their service even though they sucks… irony isn’t it?

I’ve encountered problem accessing the net a couple of weeks ago but I was a bit lucky may be that I was attended nicely, however, the problem was rectified by them after 2 days and they did send an sms to me telling me that the problem was fixed.

    zunnur… lucky you.

The Streamyx people that I have talked with were polite, kudos for that… but their problem solving sucks. If they couldn’t fix my problem, the least they could do is to tell me the truth… not ignoring the issue.

Good for you ganchan… I don’t have much faith with other smaller ISP yet; my brother had a disastrous experience with a company (I forgot the name) some time ago… making it tough for me to pick an unproven ISP.

try switch back to the old modem, see if it works.
coz sometimes the problem has nothing got to do with our side. it’s their side, which i’ve experienced twice.
try switch back to the old modem, then you can confirm if it’s really OOO.

jojo… thanks for the note. I already done that, it’s confirmed that it was my modem’s problem.

    Are you really having b-r-o-a-d-band?

    Click this links to check

    What is Broadband? (http://www.broadband.co.uk/guide.jsp)

Connection speeds and download limits (http://www.broadband.co.uk/guide.jsp?section=3)

Is telephone cable the same as road highways?

    1. Roads during peak period will have traffic jams.

    2. However, telephone cables are similar to TNB cables.

    3. One electric cable from TNB is connected to a row of terrace houses.

    4. Bear in mind the usage of electricity is 24 hours per day in every house. Peak usage is during the night with TVs, airconds etc. Do you experience low voltage? Power surge perhaps.

    5. Is broadband usage 24 hours? Is every house using broadband?

    Therefore,

    1. I urge everyone to check whether you are getting the download speed that you subscribed from streamyx. For your info, you should get at least 90%.
    2. Please click this link to see how much speed you get. Click a few times to confirm. (http://promos.mcafee.com/speedometer/test_0150.asp)
    3. If you are getting below 50%, please do a print screen.
    4. To do a print screen, put your cursor at the down right hand corner (put the cursor at the time) to get the date and day appear. Once appear, press together the keyboard buttons ctrl and prt sc.
    5. Next click start, All Programs, Accessories, Paint
    6. Press keyboard buttons ctrl and v
    7. Then File, Save As (put a name) Save into your desktop
    8. Send it as attachment to amarjit.singh@cmc.gov.my, shaharliza@cmc.gov.my, mdshaani@fomca.org.my
    9. They need your support and evidence to bring up to TM
    10. Please support for everyone benefit

    helo all streamyx customer…..

Always read customer write down the complain in blog and to much talking about suck TM because it’s very slow connection and sometime failed to connect. For me its very general situation. Malaysian people always talk too much but nothing and me too but this issue is compatible. U just make straight complain to TM and don’t simply to inform all the world. If u not intrested with TM product just leave it and do not subcribed. One more thing, If u think u are the best so u can build your personal network and personal dslam and personal server. If cannot dont talk too much. very funny.

i hate streamyx mainly due to it’s frequent disconnections and unstable speeds. sometimes it just disconnects and reconnects in 5 minutes, which is perfect for getting me out from a dota game.

After going through a similar fun experience, I can honestly say, Streamyx sucks big hairy balls. Absolutely the worst service and customer care I have ever experienced.

I having been using 4 Mb in Mid Valley for about 6 months. It’s gone down 3 times, each time it takes about 1 week or more to recover. They usually forget to call me, so I have to keep calling them every day (my routine is to call in the morning, and follow up a few times a day). Good thing my business does not depend on this Streamyx connection.

The call center processes are very inefficient. First the system asks you to key in your phone number. Then an agent asks for your name and report number. I need to repeat myself a lot, even though the report number is numeric (which should be easy to hear if one cares to listen). Can’t they think of a more streamlined system (like keying in the report number, and then having the agent focus on the next pending step)?

The agent then asks the same questions you answered 20 times this week (because they read the oldest/outdated notes in the report, not the recently updated notes). After wasting a bunch of time, the agent realizes they need to escalate the call to Level 2 support.

Level 2 is no better, and repeats a similar dance. Then they say they need to send a field engineer to my home. Of course they told me that several days ago, and the agent still has not shown up at my home.

I met a girl working at a consulting firm (I think Accenture) who is on a project to improve Streamyx’s customer support. She agrees that their internal processes are a mess.

And why the hell would TM provide a router that is incompatible with their DSL service? Did they do any compatibility testing or QA? Now that the problem is known, shouldn’t they inform their customers, and offer to replace the routers with a model that is compatible? Wouldn’t that decrease their support costs, increase customer satisfaction, and prevent customers from switching to WiMax or 3G?
