Visit Malaysia Year 2007Visit Malaysia 2007 doesn’t started brightly… first it’s the incident where 30+ Taiwan visitors refused to get off a MAS plane after it landed in KaoShiung Taiwan, in protest of flight delay and poor treatment; and then here comes the BBC article that claims Malaysia authorities being racist.

I already mentioned in some of my previous post that 2007 is just a stepping stone for Malaysia tourism; it’s undoubted that they will be a rise of tourists this year, but what matters the most is that the experiences of these visitors will determine the reputation of Malaysia tourism for years to come.

Every little bits of travel experience matters. I can still remember how I was being troubled at the London airport where I was stranded for 25 minutes answering some stupid questions from the immigration officer… and 14 months later now I am still doing free but bad promotion for them.

There’s a good chance that Malaysia will do well though, Malaysians are mostly friendly people and with various joint efforts, Visit Malaysia Year 2007 should be a good one… despite not starting too well.

It’s been a long time since I last dropped by here! How’re you doing?

Also, if you think your country’s tourisim plans are bad, wait ’till you see ours. :P

Also, we Filipinos are known as friendly people also. And we are also part of the Malay race. Could it be that Malays, by nature, are friendly? :)

Filipinos are part of Malay race?? Sure or not?

It could be nature that Malays are friendly people… I do felt that being Malaysian Malays are generally more polite and friendly than Chinese.

Rizal the Filipino hero is also known as the Malay hero of the Philippines.

I found something on Wiki… apparently Malay, Filipino and some other races in the region are classified as Austronesian. So it could be that Filipino and Malay are from the same origin… but I doubt it’s right to say that Filipino is part of Malay.

Seems like a nice trip Joshy.

You are probably right about Taiwan aborigines being in the same regional race. Haven’t done any deep research, can’t confirm though.

Malay is not limited to people born in Malaysia. Malay is a term for a race of brown skinned race. Sad to say that some people specially in malaysia or in singapore would look at Malay as a citizenship or a race associated to being a muslim. It is like Caucasians or hmmm…Arab…this is the same term to be used for people who comes from the South East Asian countries. The term is for race and not for nationality or citizenship or not for religion.
Jose Rizal is considered the Champion of Malay race. If you will trace his roots is actually chinese. The mom has native filipino blood or we call as Malay. Since Rizal grew up in Manila and he considered himself as a NATIVE FILIPINO-thus his race is considered Malay.
The name Jose Mercado Rizal is actually to denote his ancestry’s chinese merchant’s heritage-in spanish mercado means market. The name Jose Rizal is an invented name just like many chinese-filipino who wants to assimilate in to the Filipino society.

Sooo..long..hehehe..Malay is a term synonymous to ARAB, CAUCASIANS-IT DENOTES BLOODLINE NOT A NATIONALITY OR ASSOCIATION TO A RELIGION..THANKS.,,visit malaysia..

filipino is a nationality. malaysian is a nationality. indonesian is a nationality. malay is an ethnic group in malaysia, indonesia and brunei. it just so happened that the malay peoples are related to the other ethnic groups in indonesia, brunei, sabah, sarawak, east timor and the philippines. complicated? sure the malaysian politicians make it complicated. most indonesians i met (they are javanese) are offended when malaysians call them “malay”. malay = ehtnic group, not a race. sorry too long.

    filipino here.
