Malaysia Astor viewers have probably noticed an Astro Max advertisement where a Chinese housewife who’s busy with her work and have some kids that always switch her TV channel; and then her husband bought her an Astro Max so that she can view her favorite program when she finish her jobs and when the kids are probably asleep.
I understand Astro is trying to give some touching message, which I felt to notice; I just think that the characters are pathetic… indecisive mum, ball-less dad (and husband) and spoilt kids.
Being a mother that lady should know when to stamp her authority on kids; when the lady is watching a show and her kid take over the controller and switch channels without actually asking for permission, she should tell the kids to get lost and switch back to her channel instead of keeping quiet.
Same for the dad, if his wife is a quiet person, he should step in and tell the kids to do the right thing. The most pathetic kind of man is those who can’t do the right things for his wife, because he will not be able to do anything else right.
And the kids are just spoilt brats… showing no respect for their mother and not helping at housework.
I am probably thinking the opposite way of what the ads editor was thinking when the ad was first made, coz it’s not cool at all.
(no disrespect to the ads actors/actresses, it’s just the ads concept that irk me)
