Trapa natans, or water chestnuts.. a common delicacy during Chinese Mid Autumn Festival in Malaysia.

Looks weird, taste weird..

I can understand having mooncake during Mid Autumn Festival, but wonder what water chestnuts have to do with the fest..

I can’t imagine that malaysians eat water chestnuts on Mid Autumn Day!!!!!!!!
Water chestnut is very common in China. We often eat it when the season arrives and if we want to eat.

Malaysian Chinese still keep some Chinese tradition pretty intact… I am still not sure why we have water chestnuts during Zhong Qiu though.
