Poseidon movie 2006My friend asked me to watch movie last weekend.. a movie called ‘pussy-dawn’ or something, and I go ‘what the heck are you talkin bout’.. then he showed me the paper, and to my suprise the Poseidon is showing in cinema.

Many of the younger generation probably don’t know that Poseidon is a remake of a 1972 epic disaster movie, “The Poseidon Adventure”, which happens to be one of my childhood favorite.

The original Poseidon actually won a few Oscars, the only cast member that I can remember now, and still famous nowadays is the leading hero Gene Hackman.

I can still remember a bit of the original Poseidon movie, not sure what the new one has changed..

Poseidon, a luxurious cruise is at the middle of the ocean, the guest are having fun at the ball room. Unexpectedly a STRONG tidle wave (tsunami perhaps) capsized the ship and left the guest stunned.

Poseidon Adventure 1972The leading hero (forgot his name) suggested that they should get away from the ball room and head for the top (which was supposed to be the bottom of the ship, it’s capsized remember?) while some other wanted to stay and wait for rescue.

A few of the people follow the hero while the other waited, and just a while after the hero’s group fled, the water rushed in and it’s RIP to all the rich and famous at the ballroom.. and the began of the Poseidon Adventure, escaping from the ship.

I still clearly remembered the last part of the movie, it still remains as one of the most heroic movie moments in my memory.. lets not share the spoiler.

I am in no mood to watch the new Poseidon, I never like the remakes of great movies, and I have a bad feeling for this one as well. Kurt Russell as the new hero? Gosh they don’t have any better actor in Hollywood is it? I would rather prefer William Hung to play the role.

Btw do you know that Poseidon is the name of the God of Sea in Greek mythology? We are probably more familiar with the Roman version of the Sea God, the Neptune.

:) yeapz they made a reference to Poseidon himself in the show too. Well my friend even commented it looks awfully like Armageddon too..the plot at least haha.

well some old actors are good and look good in that role….one dude that i feel looks dashing despite his age is Richard Gere

Joshy.. so you watched the movie arh? Like armageddon? I got the impression of Titanic watching the preview.

Jason.. yes I am that old :p actually those days it took some 10 years for a movie to be show on tv.. I mean 10 years after it’s shown in cinema, they’ll show on tv.

I had actually watched the movie on tv a few times, at least twice.

Yvy.. yes Greek myth is coooool. So you like X-Men I assumed? Getting on cinema soon (on 25th if not mistaken)

and btw Yvy.. your url link was broken when you comment here, everytime there’s a W missing from your link..

lol ade.. is it? I think the cast really spoiled the movie, imagine if we get someone like Brad Pitt or Keifer Sutherland to play the hero.. that will be far better perhaps.
