On Friday 24th March, me and a few old friends (CY, EP, PL & TY) with some new pals (CC, HL & YM) departed to Kota Kinabalu for a week long holiday in Sabah.

I got a bit over-excited and couldn’t sleep much the nite before, it’s funny for a 27-year-old to still has that kind of school-boy mentality.. nonetheless I was really looking forward to travel with some friends again, the last time I’d done so was 4 years ago just after graduation.

Air Asia Airbus

Air Asia AirbusMost of my buddies took advantage of last year Air Asia free tickets offer and saved ourselves some pretty $$. Initially we booked different flights but since we all arrived to the new KLIA-LCC terminal early, we managed to re-schedule our flights and left to Kota Kinabalu together.

That was my first time on an Air Asia flight, in fact it’s my first ever domestic flight.. well.. after 2 and 1/2 hours of flight, woolah.. we arrived in Kota Kinabalu.

The KK airport is quite small compared to KLIA-LCC. Our guide for the Sabah trip, CheeMeng waited for us at the airport and hired a coach to take us to our accomodation.. the Api-Api Apartment where we spent a few nights during our stay in Kota Kinabalu.

Api-Api is quite a popular place to stay for budget travellers, pretty convenient to access places like shopping mall, pasar malam and the happenings of Waterfront Explanade.

We had our dinner at KK Centerpoint and walked around Jalan Kampung Air night market before taking our rest for the next day journey to Kudat.

Actually it’s a 9 days trip for us, and Sabah is absolutely a lovely place.. 5 days leave you with plenty of reasons to go Sabah again.
