Commonwealth Games 1998, Kuala LumpurIt’s Commonwealth Games again, this year in Melbourne. Frankly I’ve not been paying attention to Commonwealth Games before and after Kuala Lumpur in 1998.. I can’t even remember where the game was held in 2002.

Can’t believe it’s been 8 years since the 1998 Kuala Lumpur games that probably touched every Malaysians’ heart.

Times passed by like a rocket don’t they?

I can still remember the 1998 KL games that my family members crouching in front of tv cheering for our Malaysian athletes.. we talked about the games in school, “Malaysia Boleh” is still a non-scarstic terms and a true representation of Malaysian spirit.

Can’t seem to see any of those spirit in recent years. I wonder if it was me growing up or that Malaysia is changing.. Malaysians are not as united as back then, racial issues emerging here and there, government problems seem bigger nowadays, money value getting smaller..

I wonder what it takes to regain the kind of precious Malaysian spirit? No Malays, no Chinese, no Indians.. just Malaysians.

Some might argue that racial difference is ever existing and the ‘true’ Malaysians never existed. Deep in my heart however, I believe we are all just the simple Malaysians during the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur.

*Sooob*… sucha patriot you are. but yea, it was a memory indeed. The government and citizens put so much effort into the 1998 event. Perhaps we need another one like that to spur our vision.
