Losing their child is painful enough, they won’t forget it… but cases like this will happen again and again, because the others never felt the pain.

There are laws against child negligence in Malaysia… but I believe the authorities see enough pain in the parents and decided to let go of them in most cases.

Anyway, I do believe that something have to be done to remind them of their role, but that something should be something deemed appropriate. After all, losing their child is one punishment so that they would always remember their responsibiity… Just hope that they won’t forget about it for a long, long time.

The government could do something like an awareness propoganda… Or also pass a new law about child negligence (quite unlikely in my humble opinion). Something like leaving your child in the car would cause a sanction…

Cyril… you might be right that jailing won’t serve much purpose, but something needs to be done to remind how important their responsibilities are.

However, I would disagree in sanctions such as jailing, since it would serve no purpose at all. After all, there are too many factors to consider such as: Their aging parents? Their other child(ren)? Etc.

I would suggest community service or something along that line.

melai.. even in Malaysia the press also rarely updates on social issues. The first report was last Sunday and since then I see no news about it.

jellyfish.. I read the headlines and just don’t want to read the details, all of these bad news give me headaches. In this case it’s even worse than negligence.. speechless.
