Some parents should be jailed.. only for the past few days 2 cases of child death could be prevented if not for the parents’ negligence.

Sungai Siput: Toddler (19 months) dies after dad reversed lorry into her, the father did not realise that the gear of the three-ton lorry was in reverse mode when he started the engine.

Penang: Two-year-old dies of severe head injuries, suspected cause was a fight with his elder brother. The parents were not at home during the incident.

Most people will be sympatize with the parents, their kids are dead and isn’t that enough punishment? I don’t think so.. they cause their kids’ death, they should be punished by the law.

I’ve seen far too many cases like that, every week, every month, every year.. I had enough! The parents born their kids should take every responsibility to take care of them, there are no excuse for any kind of negligence.

People says they need to work and no time to take care of their children.. BS! If no time to take care then don’t have baby. A child is a life that needs caring, it’s not a product of s#x urge from the parents.

Example the first case of the reverse lorry.. the father just KILLED his daughter. It’s not even an accident! It’s negligence for didn’t check for the kids behind your vehicle, how many cases of this had happened? It’s carelessness for not checking the gear when starting the engine.. how did he got his driving license?

THIS IS NOT AN ACCIDENT! This is negligence, this is carelessness.. this is murder.

The second case of a 4-year-old boy suspected killing his own younger brother was ridiculous. It would never have happened if one of the parent was at home. I felt my stomach twisted when I read the news.. it was just so `@!#$%

These kind of parents must be punished! Send them to jail, at least jailed them for negligence.

We must stop these kind of incidence to occur again, we don’t want to see kids sacrificing their lifes for stupid parents, this must be stop.

what happened to the 2nd case? I saw the news in the papers here in Singapore but most of the times they don’t give an update news from other countries. I agree with you these parents should be punished for negligence.

    ade.. yes it’s sickening.

melai.. even in Malaysia the press also rarely updates on social issues. The first report was last Sunday and since then I see no news about it.

jellyfish.. I read the headlines and just don’t want to read the details, all of these bad news give me headaches. In this case it’s even worse than negligence.. speechless.

I myself am not surprise. Things like this happen every other day. Believe me, if people tried they wouldn’t end up with so much misery in their lives. However, it seems that the parents themselves or to blame, and in my own opinion the punishment is not heavy enough.

However, I would disagree in sanctions such as jailing, since it would serve no purpose at all. After all, there are too many factors to consider such as: Their aging parents? Their other child(ren)? Etc.

I would suggest community service or something along that line.

Just a couple of days ago, I read a news where a kid was dead because the parents left the kid in the car while visiting friends and relatives during CNY… such negligence will never end.

Cyril… you might be right that jailing won’t serve much purpose, but something needs to be done to remind how important their responsibilities are.

Hmm… it seems the news here is seriously lagging. Then again, I probably just haven’t read enough. How did he died? Suffocation of air poisoning? Either way the parents shouldn’t just leave the kid there. To tell the truth, I’m disgusted.

Anyway, I do believe that something have to be done to remind them of their role, but that something should be something deemed appropriate. After all, losing their child is one punishment so that they would always remember their responsibiity… Just hope that they won’t forget about it for a long, long time.

The government could do something like an awareness propoganda… Or also pass a new law about child negligence (quite unlikely in my humble opinion). Something like leaving your child in the car would cause a sanction…

Can’t recall the cause of death. It’s a 3-4 year old kid, and in this kind of heat… anything can happen.

Losing their child is painful enough, they won’t forget it… but cases like this will happen again and again, because the others never felt the pain.

There are laws against child negligence in Malaysia… but I believe the authorities see enough pain in the parents and decided to let go of them in most cases.

Well, the pain is enough. But what I’m saying is if the kid is still alive… Just hopefully next time they bring their kids along instead of doing something stupid… like putting them in the bonet or something…
