Our Malaysian government had finally confirmed that the death of 40 kampung chicken along Jalan Genting-Klang last week was caused by H5N1 strain of the avian influenza.
So the bird flu that is feared globablly is here, somewhere within 30km radius from where I stay.
Our dear Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the case was an isolated one and that the people need not worry as there was no human fatality.
Yo Mr Tan Sri, so we need to worry only if some Malaysians are dead because of bird flu? A couple dozens of human was killed by the H5N1 globally and we need not worry? That’s cool of our minister..
But seriously after the SARS outbreak a few years back and the JE disaster further back, I guess that Malaysians are quite used to this kind of health threat. That’s not much we can do if there is an outbreak, so that’s no such need to be fear.
As far as I know Malaysia government has not issued any precaution methods for us yet except that it’s safe to eat chicken.. ya right, it’s safe to eat the chicken that Singapore has banned from import.
On the other side, the share prices of a few Malaysian poultry producer plunged heavily.. and I can predict that the share prices will go up again in the next few days if no new cases is announced.
So it’s time to grab some stocks and make some $$$ instead. When there is crisis, that’s always an opportunity.
And ever wonder why KFC introduced their infamous Fish Burger a few weeks ago?

hope paranoia doesn’t take over logic. will be praying for the end of this crisis.

ade.. I wish the crisis will end soon, but it seems that it’s hard to control the flow of the virus.
The best option now is probably to research the vaksin (how to spell?) or cure for the H5N1..
What most people feared the most is mutation of the virus, currently it’s still infectable from birds to human only.. can’t imagine if it can be infected between human-human.. that will be horrendous.
