Adik Alicia’s raised my interest with post questioning Malaysian ethics. I was typing my 2 cents when realized it was an utterly long comment, might as well blog about it.

Answer her question first..

1. a pedastrian was about to cross the road.. wad will most of the malaysian drivers do?

If normal road sure continue to drive lar, unless it’s a pedestrian walk, I will try stopping. I always said to my friends that pedestrian walk is a good place to suicide in Malaysia, most drivers don’t bother about it.

2. alot of people were waiting for a particular bus.. and when the bus reached to pick up passengers, wad will most malaysians do?

Dunno, never take bus for years. I guess I will lineup, coz I am a Singaporean lol (traitor!!!)

3. glass doors (manual) – entrance to some buildings like big shopping centres.. will malaysians hold on to the door till the next person holds onto it?

Well in cases like pregnant lady, elders or disabled.. Yes I see most Malaysians holding the doors. Otherwise no ler, some peeps don’t even bother to hold the lift door.. sigh..

One challenge in Malaysia is that the general ethics are not very well taught. Lots of bad things like littering, vandalism, public rudeness are quite common in Malaysia society. What I would hope is to see lesser of the bad things rather than hoping to see more people doing the goods dids.

Also how often do ladies in Malaysia found the lack of gentlemanship among guys? Sorry lar ladies, most guys are not taught about that too. You can hardly see a guy opening your car door or pulling your chair. The most annoying is most guys will walk very fast and ignoring the ladies’ pace.. this is something that need to be learn.
