Michelle Wie stumbled at the Sony Open after missing the cut by 4 strokes.

Sony Open is the first PGA Tour event since the 16 years old Michelle Wie became pro in 2005. It is however her 3rd time to participate in this men’s event.

Michelle Wie was aiming to become the first woman in 61 years to survive through the halfway point of any PGA Tour. Her first round was however a nightmare 9 over par 79, and despite the performance of 2 under par 68 at the second round.. her total 7 over par 147 missed the halfway cut of 73.

Funny is I can’t recall Michelle Wie winning any major women events, and yet trying to achieve what Annika Sorenstam couldn’t do?

Many experts actually adviced her to compete at a fitting level and gain experience before taking on the guys, I agee on this too. No one is doubting Michelle Wie’s talent, just that she got to build her confidence and experience in the competitive level.

I actually believe that her turning pro at age of 16 was merely a publicity stance, $$$ plays a big part. Rumors said that she was actually forced to take part in men’s PGA tour because of clauses in a sponsorship deal.

The sponsors are hoping to boost Michelle Wie to tennis ace Maria Sharapova’s status, but might be a bit to hasty. Also Sharapova is much gourgeous than Wie.. ermm Australian Open coming soon..
