Been considering online education for a few days.
The thought of further studies appeared on my mind after attending a few job interviews.. working as freelancer for 2 years apparently makes my CV less appreciative. Employers at Malaysia tends to believe freelancer = jobless and unemployed.. sigh..
Not that I need a job desparately, so with the time to spare, getting a part time MBA or CFA sounds ideal for me.
I always wanted to get a MBA or CFA, problem is I have lost faith with Malaysia education, but not ready to go oversea to study.. so left strangled here. Thus online education or distance education might be a good option for me.
Choosing the right school is headache as well, there are not much info available in Malaysia, googling “online MBA” provides unconvincing details, arhh Google sucks..
Btw an online MBA course is damn expensive, wonder if I should give up the pride and dignity to just get in our crappy UM MBA course lol..

What about Open University? That’s quite reputable isn’t it? And it’s long distance learning.

If you are a freelancer, I think you’ll have to create snazzy portfolios of your projects to impress prospective employers. A list of well know clients would help too. Naturally, you also have to be prepared to answer why you chose freelancing in the first place, and why you want to switch to a 9-5. Framing your answer in the most positive light is important IMHO. this holds true whatever line you are in

Thanks for the tips Adik Alicia and Ganchan.. problem is I had to signed a contract of confidential with clients most of the time, I can’t review much about what I did.
Honestly I can’t 100% convince myself to get a 9-5 job lol.. if go to interview need to blow water a bit lol..
words of the day ~ blow water = exaggerate

Ah, like you, I have also lost faith in Malaysia’s education. It really sucks. Just give me a book and I can complete the basics in a week. I would choose to save my 3 months time studying in class learning nothing much in the end. Luckily I apply for a course deferment, learning things by myself at the moment.

Well, Malaysian education is too binded to their books. Really, unless the teachers actually teach something that is out of the box, I wonder if the kids would catch it. To tell the truth, many of us consider SPM as little worth. Why? Because many prestigious Us are not going to accept it as a gateway to 1st year…
If we look at other schools, they are much more open minded in their teachings. That’s the strong point… Our creativity is usually ’shut down’ because it is ‘wrong’ and ‘out of point’ when compared to the text books. I’ve seen teachers who consider the books as someking of a Bible or Quran. Something not in the book equals totally wrong.

I have no problem with books actually… you have the point though, that we are not encouraged enough in creative thinking.
The worst thing is when the books are not updated. When I got into uni about 8 years ago, I was still using some text books that my brother was using another 7 years back. No improvements and changes in 7 years, no wonder UM is like shit these days.
