Since childhood I was nurtured into the habit of reading, my mother was a teacher and my father was a book collector. My house in Ipoh once had a collection of over 1000 books, but decided to donate it to libraries and orphanage after my father passed away.

I read all kind of books.. fiction, classic, science, business, finance, management, engineering, self-enrichment blah blah..

I preferred reading Chinese books during childhood, it’s only until university days that I really started to appreciate English literature. The only Malay book that I happily read was Dilemma Melayu.

I am able to speed read in Chinese, can easily finish 2000 pages of novel in a day. Don’t know how I built this ‘talent’, but it never works in English.. I need something like a week to finish 500 pages of English readings.

I had forced myself into ‘buy one book a month’ policy since university, only recently stopped after figuring out that some books are actually worth to re-read again.

My favorite book is “A Brief History of Time” by Stephen Hawking, currently reading it as well, for the 5th time.

Nice to know that you too love to read books. I love the 2nd hand book stores where we can rent books at a fraction of their actual prices.
