Malaysia having sexuality education? The yet to be approved guideline is said to be covering 6 componets ~ human development, relationships, marriage and family, interpersonal skills, sexual health and behaviour, and society and culture. It’s in hope that the guidelines will help to reduce incidences of rape, child abuse, sexual deviancy and Internet porn, among other things.
Funny.. what makes sexuality education of reducing crime rate? We are taught Pendidikan Moral (moral education..?) since we were kids and yet it doesn’t help in preventing crimes.. there are lots of reasons contributing to crime, being naive in sexuality is the least that need to be concerned.
Most of us were never taught of sexuality during our school days, we learned it through various sources, and most of my generation did at least watch some sort of porns.. and yet most of us are good people. I am not against sexuality education, but it is definitely not the solution for reducing crime.
I remembered last time in high school during Biology classes.. our teacher tend to skip chapters that relates to sexual organism, imagine what will happen if we asked these teachers to teach sexual education? Bleh self study time kids..
Bottomline.. just teach our kids to avoid premature sex, be responsible of what they did or at least use a condom.
