Anyone here watched Wayang Kulit before? For real, not from tv.

Wayang Kulit (shadow puppets play) is a traditional cultural art and entertainment performance by using shadow cast by puppets that are skillfully crafted. The puppets are made of cow skin (Wayang Kulit) direct translation is ’skin movie’ btw.. the show normally protrays ancient Hindu epics and local folklore.

It’s regretful that most Malaysian have not seen the Wayang Kulit show in real, while Malaysian goverment working hard to promote domestic tourism, it’s ashamed that not much info is provided about where to join a Wayang Kulit show, people that are interested might need to dig an extra mile to find a place with Wayang Kulit.

If you know where we can find a decent place for Wayang Kulit performances, please share.. thanks.

agree entirely jee … i have only seen one - at badan warisan during an open day and a troupe from kedah played underneath the restored kampong house - it was magic!

it grieves me that malaysia should be so careless of it’s rich heritage while so much malay culture is being sadly “arabised” …
