(15/10/2005) It’s a long ride from Florence to Rome, we arrived at almost evening and went for dinner after a short rest.

The food was marvellous and 2 entertainers singing some Italian folk-songs every now and then, and I drank quite some wine, it was a splendid dinner.

After dinner we went to visit the Trevi Fountain, it’s said that it’s lucky to throw coins with your right hand over your right shoulder into the fountain. The first coin will bring you back to Rome again, the second coin will bring you love and the third coin you will marry your love. For me it’s crap, what interested me was the coins thrown into the fountain, with the thousands of crowd, it was a nice sum everyday. Our guide told us that the money was collected by the city council and donated to charities, quite cool.

We spent the other morning (16/10/2005) at Ostia Antica, a relatively unknown but interesting place.. before heading back to Rome again. Suprised to see a pyramid in the city area, it was a gift from Eygpt some thousand years ago.

The Roman Forum, the most important marketplace and gathering center for ancient Rome.

The highlight was the famous Colosseum, it looked really huge and gigantic. We also visited the Pantheon before heading back to the hotel and ready for dinner.

Also passed by the wonderful St Angelo Castle.

One funny scene we saw was the birds, I mean huge flock of birds that I couldn’t imagine, just above my head, it’s like the Hitchcock movie..

We had our dinner at a wonderful restaurant, where I’d tasted the best pasta in my life, and entertained by a few ‘opera’ singer.

The Pyramid of Gaius Cestius was built as his tomb by this wealthy praetor, who died in 12 BC, the monument would have been one of the last things St. Paul saw when he was led to his execution.

Came to this side looking for birds in Rome.

Birds in Rome? You are not actually looking for the kind of birds I saw right?
