Started the day early (14/10/2005), leaving Nice for Pisa. Yupe yupe Italy here we come!

Arrived at Pisa and sat on a stupid train to the leaning tower spot, Pisa was hot and dusty, everyone is sweating. We got our lunch at Pisa, guess what? Pizza surely lol, nope Pisa was not popular for pizzas.. it’s this funny building.

This photo showed obviously why the Pisa tower got its name, the leaning tower.

We didn’t stay at Pisa for too long, and headed to Florence (Firenze) instead, which was quite near to Pisa btw. Well Florence in my perception was supposed to be a classy and elegant place, I was wrong. Well it’s still nice but not what I’d expected.

Anyhow, there are a few amazing achitectures, say the cathedral and the Campanile di Giotto, the bell tower

Another bad experience at Florence, maybe too few WC.. I was in need of WC urgently while my sister still enthusiasticly studying various achitectures.. her favorite was inside the Baptistery of San Giovanni, with golden marbles on top of the arc roof, potraying the stories of the bible. The entrance of the baptistery was equally impressive with the carvings, and was mentioned by Michaelangelo as the ‘Gates of Heaven’.. didn’t really care, I want to P lol.

End up we went into one of the nice looking cafe, order a coffee and icecream for 20euros, and used their toilet.

One the other morning (15/10/2005) we went back to the town again, and headed straight for the Galleria de Academia to view the famous David, masterpiece of Michaelangelo. After an hour in line with some unpleasant incident (ketkosova..), the brief view and study of the huge and magnificent sculpture made all efforts worthwhile, it was simply an amazing piece of artwork, absolutely brilliant.. too bad photos not allowed.

After spending an hour or two at Florence, we left for Rome. Some nice scene on the way, apparently it was tobacco leafs, Italians are strong smokers.
